Using Hermes

Usage and credits

Read your usage numbers, check your AI credit balance and top it up.

Two sections of Settings tell you what your agent has been doing and what it costs. Usage shows sessions, messages, tokens and your busiest times; Credits shows your AI credit balance, where it went, and lets you top up.

Opening Usage and Credits

Usage: choose "Usage" in the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, or open it directly.
Credits: open SettingsCredits, or open it directly.

Both are there on every plan, including the free tier, in simple and builder mode.

The Usage page

Usage needs an agent of your own. Until you have one (on the free tier, for example), it says "Usage appears once your agent is running."

Views and ranges

"Overview" and "Models" at the top left switch between the two views.
"All", "30d" and "7d" at the top right set the range. "All" goes back at most 365 days.
Days are counted in your own time zone.

If the numbers can't be loaded, you see "Couldn't load usage right now."

What each number means

Card	What it counts
Sessions ("incl. scheduled")	Conversations started in the range, scheduled runs included. Runs started by apps aren't counted.
Messages ("incl. scheduled")	Messages in the range, scheduled runs included.
Total tokens	Tokens sent to and received from the model, through MyHermes AI, on calls that succeeded.
Active days	Days in the range with at least one message.
Peak hour	The hour of the day, in your time zone, with the most messages, for example "9 PM". It shows a dash when there are none.
Favorite model	The model that used the most tokens. When there's no tracked usage, the card is labelled "Model" and shows the model your agent is set to.

Tokens are only tracked for MyHermes AI, the built-in model service. If your agent uses your own provider key, or a ChatGPT or Grok sign-in, "Total tokens" shows a dash instead of a number, with "not tracked on your own key". If you use your own key but some usage still went through MyHermes AI, the card counts that usage and carries the note "MyHermes AI only".

Activity

Under the cards, "Activity" shows one square per day for the range, darker on busier days. Hover a square to see its date and how many messages it had.

Below the squares, a line compares your token total with a well-known text, for example "You've used about as many tokens as the US Constitution." Click the line to see another comparison.

The Models view

A chart of tokens per day, split by model. The five busiest models get their own colour, and the rest are grouped as "Other".
A list of models, each with its tokens in and out (for example "12k in · 3k out") and its share of the total. The list shows five at first; "Show 3 more" (with however many are left) opens the rest.
"No model usage in this range." when nothing was tracked in the range you picked.
With your own provider key or a ChatGPT or Grok sign-in, it says the usage isn't tracked, because your agent's tokens are billed by that provider and never pass through MyHermes.

When Hermes is resting

If your agent has reached its plan's running-time cap, a "RECHARGING" banner at the top says "Hermes is resting." and when it'll be back online. On Mini it also offers "Upgrade to Pro →". The banner only appears once the cap has been reached.

While it's up, Telegram messages wait and are answered automatically when Hermes is back. A message sent in the web chat isn't saved, so send it again after that time. Plans and credits explains the cap.

AI credits

AI credits pay for the model your agent uses when it runs on MyHermes AI, the built-in model service.

Your balance

SettingsCredits shows your balance in US dollars, to four decimal places, marked "USD-denominated · no expiry". Credits don't run out with time.

When this month's plan bundle has arrived, a line says how much of your balance came from it.
"Credits are always billed in USD, even if your subscription is in another currency."
The small refresh button next to "balance" (its label is "refresh balance") reloads the balance and the activity list.

Where credits come from

$0.50 once, when you create your account.
Your plan's monthly bundle: $1 on Mini and $5 on Pro, added when the plan starts and again at each renewal.
Top-ups you buy yourself.

What uses credits

The model on MyHermes AI. New agents start on MyHermes AI. With MyHermes AI selected, SettingsModel shows your balance with a "top up" link.
Other models on the free tier. Anything other than the free model, myhermes:free.
The Jev skill, a built-in skill every paid agent has, which Hermes uses for quick yes/no, pick-one and scoring questions. It's paid from your AI credits while your agent's main model is MyHermes AI. On any other provider it uses an OpenRouter key if your agent has one, and otherwise it isn't available. See Skills.

What doesn't use credits

Your own provider key. That provider bills you directly.
A ChatGPT or Grok sign-in. Model use goes to that account.
The free model, myhermes:free, on the free tier.
Running time. Neither the running-time cap nor the "hours a month" figure on the plans is charged from credits.

Topping up

Open SettingsCredits (open it).
Under "top up", pick "$5", "$10", "$25", "$50" or "$100" ("$10" is picked to start with), or type a whole-dollar amount from $1 to $1,000 in "or enter custom amount (USD)". An amount outside that range is pulled back to the nearest limit.
Press "checkout". You're taken to a hosted payment page, which charges in US dollars; you can't switch currency there.
Pay. You come back to SettingsCredits. If the new balance isn't showing yet, press the refresh button.

If the payment page can't be opened, the reason appears under the "checkout" button. Try again, or tell us through "Get help" in the account menu.

Recent activity

"recent activity", at the bottom of SettingsCredits, lists your last 50 entries. With none yet, it says "no activity yet".

Each entry shows:

the date and time, in UTC (for example "2026-09-29 06:30:00");
what it was: "free welcome bonus", "welcome bonus", "monthly bundle", "top-up", "usage", "refund" or "adjustment";
the model's name, on "usage" entries;
the amount, to four decimal places, with "+" in front of money added.

Seeing what uses the most

By model: open Usage, switch to "Models" and pick a range. The list is sorted by tokens, busiest first, with each model's share of the total.
By charge: in SettingsCredits, "recent activity" lists each "usage" charge with its model and amount.
Only MyHermes AI usage shows up in either place. If your agent uses your own provider key or a ChatGPT or Grok sign-in, its usage isn't counted here; with your own key, check that provider's own dashboard.
